No more I’m sorry? (dance)

March 5, 2008

So, it was about time I shared more songs with you…Listening to songs are just a great way of practicing (practiSing, BrE) listening skills and pronunciation, new words and structures you may have already learned somewhere else (in this song: present perfect, and imperatives or commands: do something or don’t do something; speak or don’t speak; eat or don’t eat…And present perfect is used as a past tense to talk about recent things, reciente en el tiempo o algo que aún es reciente en tu cabeza o perdura en ella). Pon atención a la forma de pronunciar I’ve.

Je suis désolé/Lo siento/Ik ben droevig/Sono spiacente /Perdóname
Chorus (=estribillo): I’ve heard it all before (repeat) / I don’t want to hear / I don’t want to know / Please don’t say you’re sorry/ I’ve heard it all before / And I can take care of myself / I don’t want to hear /I don’t want to know / Please don’t say ‘forgive me’/ I‘ve seen it all before / And I can’t take it anymore

You’re not half the man you think you are / Save your words because you‘ve gone too far / I‘ve listened to your lies and all your stories / You’re not half the man you’d like to be

Chorus

Don’t explain yourself cause talk is cheap / There’s more important things than hear you speak / We stayed because I made it so convenient / Don’t explain yourself you’ll never see
(‘Sorry’ in multiple languages)

And you, have you heard it all before?

Should I Stay or Should I go?

October 19, 2007

From Wikipedia: Should I Stay or Should I Go” is a song by The Clash, from their album Combat Rock. It was written in 1981 and featured Mick Jones on lead vocals. It became the band’s only number-one single, a decade after it was originally released”
Listen and fill in the gaps:

If you ____ that you are _____
I’___ be there till the end of time

____I cool it or ____ I blow?

2. What is the meaning of ‘should’?
3. Identify conditionals…
4. Y la gran pregunta ¿alguien entiende lo que dicen en español? (sin buscarlo en google) Premio especial 🙂 Estos chicos necesitaban un curso de español urgente…

Night and day: prepositions

June 3, 2007

through (a través, atravesado. También ‘finalizado’)
beneath (debajo, como ‘under’)
under (debajo)
within (dentro de, como ‘inside’)
near (cerca, cerca de)
inside (dentro de)
in (en)
far (lejos…Far West…remember?)

LISTEN

Where the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tick of the eye of the clock
You’re standing up against the wall
Like the drip drip drip of the rain drops
When the sun shines ________
So a voice ________ me
Keeps revealing you…you

Night and day
You are the one
Only you ________ the moon
And ________ the sun
Whether ________ to me or __________

It’s no matter, baby, where you are
I think of you
Night and day

Day and night
Why is it so
That this longing for you follows wherever I go
____ the roaring traffic boom
____ the silence of my lonely room
I think of you
Night and day

Night and day
_______ the hide of me
Though such a hungry yearning
Burning _______ of me
This torment won’t be ______
’til you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night
Night and day

Night and day
_______ the hide of me
Oh, such a hungry yearning
Burning, burning _______ of me
This torment won’t be ________
’til you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night

Dressed up to the eyes

It’s a wonderful surprise

To see your shoes and your spirits rise

Throwing out your frown

And just smiling at the sound

And as sleek as a shriek

Spinning round and round

Always take a big bite

It’s such a gorgeous sight

To see you in the middle of the night

You can never get enough

Enough of this stuff

It’s ___________

I’m in love

The Cure “Friday I’m in love”
